Press Release Summary: InformationTechnologyCrossing added more than 50,000 jobs to its website in the first week of July. The latest quarterly report by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics has found that the number of jobs in the information technology industry has been increasing despite the economic slowdown. With the growing job count in the IT industry, InformationTechnologyCrossing aims to update its website with every single IT job opening.
Press Release Body: InformationTechnologyCrossing (www.informationtechnologycrossing.com), an IT job board dedicated to serving IT professionals, added over 69,000 new IT jobs to its website in June, 2008, an increase of over 300% from July 2007. In fact, the IT job board is updating its website with the latest IT jobs daily. The website aspires to support the slumping job market by adding more and more IT job openings. The company's latest job count (as of July 10) stands at 144,616, and it continues its efforts to add every available IT job (even the "hidden" ones) to its roster.
Despite the current economic turmoil, the US job market for IT professionals seems bright. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of employed IT professionals increased in the second quarter by 10% as compared to the 2007 second-quarter figures. In fact, the number of IT employees reached an all-time high this quarter by hitting 4.1 million, a 2% rise from the last quarter.
"Industries such as banking, retail, real estate, and manufacturing have faced the maximum job cuts in this economic downturn. However, information technology is one of the many recession-proof industries, and the jobs in this sector are poised to increase," says A. Harrison Barnes, founder and CEO of InformationTechnologyCrossing.
A report by the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB) revealed that the number of jobs in the information technology industry increased by almost 90,000 this year, even as the overall employment market has lost 438,000 jobs. "This is a great news for IT job seekers. The IT job market has remained strong even during the slowdown," added Barnes. The association reported that while the June gain was modest, with 1,700 IT professionals being employed, the May figures reflected a very strong gain of nearly 43,000 IT jobs.
According to Barnes, the top IT jobs at present include IT manager, programmer, systems analyst, software engineer, and support specialist. The job counts for these job titles on InformationTechnologyCrossing are as follows:
InformationTechnologyCrossing aims to update its website with all of the most recent IT jobs. The website plans to add another 50,000 IT jobs this month in its continuing effort to offer the highest number of active IT jobs possible to thousands of job seekers.
